Before starting the business, Carla experienced a life-changing event that made her feel like she had lost her personal and professional life in an instant. During the darkest of times, she remembered monarch butterflies would appear—while stopped at a traffic light or while walking the dog, one time gracefully hitting her in the head. Butterflies aren’t just a symbol of nature’s precariousness; they also embody hope and adaptability.
When she was ready to stop working for others and start her own business, she pondered what name would have meaning and what identity would represent every experience gained, every tragedy and triumph she had gone through to get to this place. Looking around, she realized she had images of butterflies in her house, office, and even jewelry. Her unintentional collection was a part of her life and her identity.
August 2008, it all came together. Monarch’s name represents hope and adaptability, and the butterfly represents that despite challenges, their desire to thrive never diminishes. On that day, Monarch Office Furniture gained its wings.

Monarch Office Furniture proudly supports the volunteers of Johnathan’s Place and Good Shepherd Rescue of Texas. These caring volunteers give freely of their time, money, and affection to abandoned dogs and at-risk children. We are proud to spread the word to help the volunteers who are doing a beautiful job.
